ETECH CONSULT acted as project partner to Austrian Automotive Association Service GmbH, who prepared the market study “The Automotive Sector in the Czech Republic” at the request of Oesterreichische Kontrollbank (OeKB).
The Czech automobile industry has performed well in recent years. A large number of international (especially Japanese) component manufacturers, besides the well known carmakers Škoda Auto and TPCA (a 50:50 joint venture belonging to Toyota and PSA), have set up production plants in Czechia. Czechia is currently producing around 448,000 vehicles per year (the number of cars that are expected to be produced in 2007 is 900,000). There is a domestic market for around 160,000 vehicles per annum, making it, after Poland and Hungary, the third most important market in Central Europe.
This development and positive trends forecast over the next few years make the Czech automobile industry very interesting to Austrian component suppliers. The proximity and existing intensive business relationships provide good conditions for future co-operative ventures.
The market study contains relevant key figures on the development of the Czech economy and on the 14 regions in the country. It also shows areas of regional strength in respect of the industries that are of interest to the automobile industry (e.g. mechanical engineering and materials technology).
Details on the major vehicle manufacturers, the tier 1-suppliers and additional suppliers in Czechia provide the medium-sized companies in the Austrian components industry valuable starting points for co-operative ventures:
> Contact address, details on significant interlocutors
> Product groups
> Suppliers and purchasing, supplier management
> The most important customers
Extensive quality interviews with Czech experts from the automotive sector supplement the information. These data provide Austrian companies with the basis for opportunities for co-operative ventures and for exports.
Partners of the three Austrian automobile clusters can obtain the study free of charge at Automotive Association GmbH (office@aaa.co.at).
Companies that are not members can order the study from OeKB by e-mail (projektanalysen@oekb.at) or by phone (01-531 27-2824).
